Compassion International is a Christ centered, Church based, Child Sponsorship organization that is working alongside over 5000 local churches in 26 countries to release children from poverty in Jesus name. Compassion currently has over 1 million precious children connected with sponsors from all over the world.

CI is committed to working through the local church

Compassion's model is carried out exclusively through local churches. Over 65 denominations are represented by the churches Compassion partners with. The Pastor oversees the child discipleship program, which meets in the churches facilities and operates under the direction of the church.

Compassion is also working closely with church pastors in the US. Many pastors are partnering with Compassion as part of their missions strategy tapping into Compassion’s 50 plus years of experience working with the poor in developing nations.

Richmond grew up in extreme poverty in the Naguru slum near Kampala, Uganda, and has battled malaria more than 10 times.

When Richmond's father was murdered, he lost all hope. But God still had good plans for him. Richmond's  life changed dramatically when he entered Compassion -assisted child development centre.

On completing his early education, he was accepted into Compassion's Leadership Development Program and was able to attend a university. Richmond later worked as a pastor at Nakawa Baptist Church. Please click the link above to hear full story.
