Our Story

Pastors Discipleship Network  began as the dream of a young pastor, passionate for Christ but frustrated with the lack of resources and affordable theological training for his peers in his home country.

The Need

Over 80 percent of pastors in Uganda are theologically untrained. Most people who accept the gospel do not know what to do next. Resources and reading materials aren't available unless pastors attend a local seminary, and very few can afford to do so.

How We Began

PDN founder Richmond Wandera grew up in extreme poverty in Kampala, Uganda. At age eight, he was accepted into the Compassion International  child sponsorship program. After excelling in school, he was chosen to enter Compassion’s Leadership Development Program, which provided him the opportunity to earn a university degree. Upon completing college, Richmond was overwhelmed with a burning desire to see the spiritual state of his country change. 

The timely Wess Stafford Scholarship

Richmond was accepted to attend the Moody Graduate School and Theological Seminary in Chicago, where he is completing his master's degree.

A year after he began his studies at Moody, Richmond conceived the idea of free monthly theological training for pastors in Uganda, along with provision of study resources and mentorship programs. This further developed into the idea of mentorship and accountability relationships between pastors in the West and in Africa.

Where We Are Now

The ministry of PDN has spread rapidly through enthusiastic partners to more than 300 pastors in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, and we are glad to witness the growth in church performance due to the correct handling and communication of God’s Word.
